Voting closes today, so please click the banner above to vote for your favorite icons.  We currently have several ties, so if they're not broken I'll extend voting a few more days.

Also, Challenge 76 is still open, so don't forget to enter your icon(s) by Saturday around midnight EST.  Thank you!  :)

That banner should really say extension, but my computer's in the shop so I cannot 'shop, and thus we can just use a reminder banner.  ETA: Thanks to [info]acolorfulguy for quick-shopping the banner!  :D

I'm extending this challenge, so if you haven't entered your icons you'll still have until February 12 (same time) to do so. Thanks to everyone who has entered so far, and I can't wait to see what else you all submit!

Welcome to Challenge #76 at dd_icontest!

This week’s challenge is centered around the episode ‘Midnight’ and as such, we’ll be asking you to steal the voice (or in this case, words) of another TV show or movie. In your submission(s) this week, please include a notable phrase or quote from another TV show, movie, or miniseries (anything that is in visual format will do).

Caps are below for you to use. You can use additional caps if you wish, as long as one of the caps below is part of your icon. You can find more caps here; please keep these caps Midnight specific, since that’s this week’s challenge.

Caps can be found here.Collapse )

As always, our rules are....

....hiding under a cut.Collapse )

Please submit your icon(s) by Saturday, February 12, at midnight EST. If you have questions, please leave them as a comment to this post or PM me. Thanks for checking out this week’s challenge, and happy icon making!

ETA: It occurs to me that not all catchphrases (spoilers, for instance) are four words, so it's silly to put a word limit on your quote. I've fixed the challenge details. Sorry about that. :/

First of all, thanks to those of you who have entered Challenge #75.  For those who haven't, please remember to submit your icons by Saturday at midnight EST.  I love all the icons that have been submitted so far.  I can't wait to see the rest!  :)

If you're having trouble finding caps, feel free to comment here and myself or someone else can recommend another caps site for you.  If you have any other questions, please drop off a comment or a PM and I'll get back to you!
Once again, thanks to all who have been participating!  We've seen many new people come in during the last few challenges.  It's always nice to see new users and what they can do, as well as seeing veterans bringing lovely icons every week!  :)

This post is mostly just for you to provide feedback/offer suggestions about the comm, future challenges, things you do or don't like, rules, etc.  Comments will be screened, so you're free to speak your mind if you have any issues.  I'm also working up the next batch of challenges, so if you have suggestions for those I'd love to hear them!

Also, be prepared for something rather snazzy for our past challenge winners.  We like to celebrate the icons you fine folks make, and to do that I've got a little surprise.  I hope you'll like it!

Finally, I'm hoping to redo our layout/headers/other stuff in the foreseeable future.  If you'd like to design a header, please do so and either link to it at this post or PM it to me.  The same goes for layout and possibly a new default icon for the community.   We're just freshening things up a bit so that we're ready for all the fun new challenges we'll be laying out in the next few months.  I hope you'll all like the changes and that you'll take part in helping our community grow and be even more amazing than before.  Once again, thanks, and I look forward to your thoughts!

Welcome to the 75th challenge at dd_icontest! Seventy-five challenges is impressive, and it’s all thanks to you: the submitters, the voters, the lurkers, all the lovely members (and non-members) who take little bits out of your day to participate in our community in one way or another. On behalf of my amazing co-mod 10_rose and myself, thank you for keeping us active and having fun! :)

As you might have already guessed, this week’s challenge is to make an icon that’s up close and personal. Your icon(s) should contain very little negative space/background. You can use more than one cap, as long as there is a definite close-up that takes up the majority of the icon. The close-up does not have to be of a face. See below for examples.

This week we have a free caps round, which means you can use any caps you want. If you don’t already have a favorite place to find caps, I recommend here. Additionally, if you can’t find the cap you want, I normally do my own, so I’d be happy to help you out if you need it.

Rules, we has them.

You can read them here.Collapse )

Please make sure to submit your icons by Saturday, January 29, at midnight EST. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.  Thanks in advance for participating, and have fun! :)

Voting for Challenge 74 is closed.  Click the cut to see who won!  :)

Winners here!Collapse )

Quick explanation: mirnell 's icons tied for second place, and since I don't think we'll be allowing multiple winnings per participant, I just made one banner for both icons.  mirnell , if you'd like separate banners, don't hesitate to let me know.  Also, I'll get back to everyone on how we'll be handling ties/multiple placements by one person in the future (as soon as I've discussed it with 10_rose of course).  Thanks!

As always, thanks to everyone who participated this round.  Be sure to keep your eyes on Challenge #75!

Challenge 74 voting is now open!

Please choose your first, second, and third favorite icons and post your vote in a comment here. All comments will be screened.

Make sure to consider all the shinies icons before you vote (and to let me know if one of them doesn't show up) and vote for the ones that fit the prompt and, more importantly, which ones you like best.  As a reminder, this week's challenge required an icon that was partially gray scale and partially color.  Happy voting!  :)

Entries under the cut!Collapse )

Voting will close Sunday, January 23, at approximately midnight EST (although I’ll accept any votes that are in my inbox when I get to work Monday morning). If you have questions or concerns, please leave a comment or PM me and I’ll get back to you straightaway. Best of luck to all submissions, and of course thank you to everyone who votes! :)
